ORIGIN OF WOODWORKBOOTY

Hey everyone! Just want to introduce myself to the community here. My name is Nika Magradze. I am from the country Georgia in Eastern Europe, born and raised there until I was eight. I came to the United States with my family in 2004 and have lived here ever since! One thing I love about this country is the opportunity for creative freedom we have both internally and outwardly to express ourselves. For me, an avenue of this expression came about with woodworking.

I discovered woodworking in my early teen years when I began exploring the craft of bow-making. I loved the simplicity of bow designs, such as the English long bow or Native American style bows. This was the planting of the seed of my woodworking journey. Although I am nowhere near where I want to be as a wood-worker, when I get a chance to create something, I love to take up the opportunity. My last project was a baseball bat case. And in a college course named Design in Space: Sustainable Furniture, I created various works such as a cutting board, a wooden knife, chopsticks, a wooden light structure, wooden rings, and so on. We even built a work-bench as a class which taught us a lot of fundamental things about woodworking.

I share my woodworking history with you because this is a passion of mine that I want to share with others, like you! And, I would love if others were inspired by WoodWorkBooty to get their hands working with one of the most versatile and raw materials in the world.

WoodWorkBooty came about because of my own experience with woodworking. I remember that the creative process of ideating what projects to make was one of the most crucial parts in the building of any project. I would spend hours, days, or weeks researching different works by amazing craftsmen and women around the world. Even works produced by some big name brands will inspire a creative flare that connects with your inner self, which gets you motivated for picking up tools, getting sawdust flying in the air, and you creating amazing works which you can truly appreciate.

I hope you may find WoodWorkBooty a great resource for you and your future works. This platform is meant to be simple, yet complex; a place where a community gathers to share their experiences, their works, and their inspirations regarding woodworking.

Visit The Booty Forum to join the community discussion about any questions & thoughts, your personal works you’d like to share, or others’ experiences you’d like to read about.

We are so glad you are here.
